This is a possibility to anyone who has an annoying rattle in the dash that
they can't locate.  My '94 e34 has been doing it for the last 6 months and
we never could locate the problem.  We took everything out of the glove box,
removed the ashtray, listened with a stethoscope, pushed, prodded and on and
on.  Then last week, when checking the fluid levels, we noticed that the
plastic cowling over the vents and under the wipers was missing 3 of the
clips that hold the 2 plastic pieces in place, causing them to be loose.  I
had the clips replaced and viola!  end of the annoying rattle!!! Check it
out!

Has the screen been replaced? This cover has to come off for that, and the
fitters often break these clips. They're only pennies, though, and easy to
DIY fit.
