Thinking about bleeding the brakes of my 99 540i, my E39 Bentley manual
calls DOT 4 "low viscosity" brake fluid for E39s after 9/1998, with the
reason being they are equipped with DSC without precharge pump.

I searched the web but couldn't confirmed this, does anybody know if regular
DOT 4 brake fluid can be used?

TIA

DOT 4 is a standard, and any DOT 4 fluid should be fine.

I have to agree with Dave on this one. DOT4 is a standard. I haven't ever
heard of DOT4 Low Viscosity, as though there is also a DOT4 High Viscosity.
DOT4 is DOT4.
