My father-in-law is looking to finally part with his 78 635 CSI that
he brought over from Germany 20 years ago.  Unfortunately, I don't
have a garage in which to keep it nor the money for the upkeep.  He
has babied this car and it is in great, unrestored condition.  He has
asked me to look into selling the car for him and does not want to go
the usual classified ad in the paper as he believes this is no run of
the mill 6.  Any tips on avenues to sell the car and what is a good
asking price?  Thanks.

Any of the usual 6-er hangouts would be good: roadfly.org and the
like.

A more cynical view would have it that if you'd posted
lots of good pictures, price and location on the web you
could have sold it by now :-)

I'm not even sure he really wants to sell his baby- the stereotypical
un-motivated seller!  So he hasn't done much about it.

I'd put up a web page with lots of pictures.  Link to it from here and various
other message boards.  If you get a good offer, great.  If you get a bunch of
good offers, stick it on eBay and let them fight for it.

Roundel is a good place to advertise cherry peices to a sympathetic
audience.

He likely won't get what he thinks it's worth.  Nobody ever does.
