1988 750iL was the first with this set up, as there are two throttles,
mounted some distance apart, it was the most logical way to control them.
None of the BMW V12's have had cable throttle, none since the early 80's
double M30 prototypes at least. V8 got it in 99 model year. I6 got the
partial system in 99 model year, fully electronic in 2000. Not sure when
the I4 got it, but probably with the introduction of the N44.
Diesels? Anyone? According to ETK, they are also electronically
controlled.

FWIW, most of the car mags love the electric throttles - Car & Driver
says that BMWs have "brilliant throttle response". ;->
