i am also looking at a pro formance chip for my 525i 89'. does anyone
know anything about this chip. is is overall good, bad. any problems and
how much of an increase in power should i expect?

You don't say where you are located, but in the US, the "bargain"
performance chip for your car is the one made by Mark D'Sylva at EAT.
Its probably more expensive than the one you're looking at, but at
about $180, its an excellent "buy". In fact, there's a group sale
happening at bimmer.org that will make the chip about $165!

I am in Montreal Canada. I will check it out. the chip that i saw was
for around $60 if i remember clearly. But i have never heard of it so am
very hesitant.

what about the conforti chip? any reviews on that? is there a place it

The conforti chip, which btw is the one I have, is comparable to Mark
D'Sylva's EAT chip. However, at around $180, Mark's chip is
substantially cheaper than the "Jim C" chip which usually retails
around $250. Note, turner motorsport some times has the Jim C chip on
sale for like $200, but that is still more expensive than the EAT.
