Hey group,
I'm new to the BMW universe, as I'm starting to shop for my first one....
I'm starting to do the standard homework -- Consumer Reports, Edmunds,
etc... I was hoping this group could point me to a FAQ file or a 'tip' file
on purchasing a used (sorry, 'pre-owned') 5-series. Any help would be
appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

There's no FAQ in this newsgroup. However, it would do well to
peruse stuff on http://www.koalamotorsport.com, and
http://www.unixnerd.demon.co.uk/bmw.html.
There are some other websites that have a lot of info, too.
Google is your friend: there have been many discussions in this
newsgroup about this subject, so you should search the archives.

I bought a '90 525i last month and the discussion groups cited above have
provided a lot of info on maint., cleaning, tires & wheels, performance
chips, etc.
Good luck! e34's rock!
