I have a 318i coupe (2001). It doesn't have a cd changer, just the
stock radio/cassette player. Anyone know if 318s are prewired for the
changer, and where in the trunk I should look for the wires (I can't
see them in the left-side compartment where I guess the changer goes)?
All E46s are prewired for a CD Stacker which is installed in the LHS of the
boot (trunk).
However, rather than installing the OEM stacker a much better solution is to
install an ALPINE CHA-S634 (or similar) MP3 capable stacker. This provides
around 80 hours of music. You need an adaptor cable and interface adaptor.
I've done the installation (piece of cake) which retains use of steering
wheel controls of CD / track etc.
See www.bm3w.co.uk (under editorial) for details.
