I would really appreciate some advice from some experienced people in this
group. I'm going to tint the windows on my e38, which is Mojave Brown.
Mojave Brown is something like a mocha-type color, only somewhat metallic.
The normal charcoal tint would be okay I guess but I am wondering what you
have done with a color like this? I'm not looking for overly flashy - just
a decent tint that would properly complement the exterior. Many of my local
tint shops (Chicago western suburbs area) don't do anything but charcoal and
those who would, charge big bucks for the special order... I'm thinking
some sort of bronze or whatever would be nice but I'm not totally ruling out
charcoal - just looking at my options.
Your help would be appreciated.

You should be able to find a "brown" tint; not sure I'd call it bronze -
"bronze" reminds me of the mirror-like tint that is now illegal in most
states (if not all).
In either event if the places you visit don't have what you want I'd go
somewhere else - the brown-shaded tint dosen't cost any more than the
smoke.
You can do it yourself if you have a little patience. Clean the window,
cut the tint to fit with a *tad* of excess, peel the backing, spray soapy
water on both surfaces (running it off), apply tint, position, & squeegee
the water out. Cut slightly (1/8" or so) from the top of the window, &
apply clear fingernail polish to the edge(s). I like to apply the tint
beyond the sides of the window channel & bottom rubber wiper, so that it's
not constantly trying to peel back.
