Hello All,
I am thinking of buying a co-workers 94 or 95 318iC. It's in great
shape. The leather is good. The top has some wear spots. But nothing too
bad.
I just know that certain Beemers have "personal quirks". I was wondering if
anyone has had any experience with these E36 convertibles? Are these the
built on the same chassis as the same year 318ti? Are the replacement tops
for these only made by BMW or are there 3rd party ones as well?
Thanks,
Karl

I have a '94 E36 Convertible. I presume the top is the same for the 318 as
my 325. You can buy aftermarket Tops, but the installation is as much or
more than the top, about $1100 US for top with installation. My wife and I
"sutured" up some stitching that was coming loose, and I think I will get
another year out of my top. I am also agitating for covered parking at
work!
