I had one break like this. Managed to drill a small hole and pop the lock by
removing the license plate. I recommend you go to a used car lot and look at
a same year model to see where to drill. The little ear on the back of the
lock cylinder probably broke off.

I'm sorry, I must be missing something.
You drilled a hole in the sheet metal of the car?
Wouldn't it be wiser to simply drill out the lock cylinder? Means spending
a couple of bucks on a new one, but it's better than damaging the integrity
of the vehicles corrosion protection.

If the ear on the back of the lock came off, he should still be able to
rotate the lock cylinder and push the button to unlock the car. He didn't
specify if this is power locks or not, I'll assume not as it makes more
sense. He hasn't mentioned what he feels when he tries to push it in... no
movement at all, partial binding movement, or free movement. The only way I
could think of to create this situation where full rotation was possible and
full push was possible would be to bend the actually peice of the latch that
is actuateed by the cylinder when you push it.
I have experience only wth power, but I imagine it's the same for non-power
just without the connecting rod to the power actuator. There are three
settings of the lock on power: Unlocked, follow central lock state, and
locked. Non power... unlock, lock, lock?
If the OP could specify for us:
1. Power or not?
2. Can it rotate through fully from the normal locked position to the
normal unlocked position? Which with power is 2 full quarter turns?
3. Can it be pushed in fully and easily in the position where it would
normally be unlocked?
