Anyone else out there having a problem with the airbag turning off when a
105 pound adult is in the passenger seat?
BMW claims that it is functioning properly.
I don't feel that that is acceptable on a car of this caliber.
Please reply if you are having the same problem.
If BMW won't fix this, we may be able to find some attorney to file a class
action suit.
Thanks.

I know there's a pressure sensor on passenger seat
and depending on the weight you get different setting
on belt tensioner and airbag, but it is certainly active.

Have you considered that a 105 Lb adult would receive the same injuries from
an air bag being triggered as a 105 Lb child?

Perhaps you don't really want that bag going off?

Perhaps you would consider actually investigating the technological and
safety reasons for the weight limits rather than just starting a law suit?

*Perhaps* BMWs criteria is that, at 105 lbs weight, the corresponding
[short]stature of such an occupant, would be such that that person
might be inclined to slide the seat far enough forward to be in danger
of an adverse impact with the airbag (i.e. closer than 18 inches to
the device).  That is the main reason for the [pyrotechnic] seat belt
tensioner ...to move the occupant away from the airbag prior to its
deployment.

Unless this is a malfunction, one may be assured that BMW will present
all manner of data in support of such a design, and/or in rigorous
defense of claims against it.

Thank you all for your input.
BMW says that the weight has to be at least 115 pounds and you have to sit
precisely in the center of the seat.
It still seems pretty ridiculous to me, but I am no engineer.
We have been in other cars including MB and BMW 745's with this same feature
and the airbag stays active in them.
I just thought that it would be the same in this car.
Thanks again.
