Angel eyes - fitting clips??

Hi to all, just been given an angel eyes kit at Christmas. Looking through
the contents there's no clips supplied to fit the rings into the headlights.
If anyone has fitted a set of these, what did you use to actually locate the
rings in the headlights?
I could go and fabricate some sort of clips fairly easily, just wondering if
there's a ready made alternative before I go wasting time making something
up?
Thanks,
Badger.

Most of the DIY sets that I have seen do not look very good. The
installation instructions for one kit said to spray the brackets with silver
paint (so it doesn't look like sh.t). Why not just make them silver in the
first place. Because they are cheap cheap cheap.

Have a good objective look before you do anything irreversible to your car.

I share your experience and I think you gave very good advice.  Nothing
worse than a really nice car with a really cheap-looking mod.

Sorry Michael, I don't quite get what you are saying? I didn't give any
advice, I asked for some.
If I'm going to fit these Angel Eyes, then I want them to look as if they
were always meant to be there and not cheap-looking, if  that's possible.

Hey Badger, Michael was responding to my post.
I've seen some Angel Eye retrofit kits and they look like sh.t in the
daytime. At night they just don't look like OEM.  I saw a detailed
installation story in a British BMW mag and it looked very bush league
(double sided tape, etc. the only thing missing was paper clips and Elmer's
glue). The even showed pics comparing the kit to a real set and you could
easily tell the kit was not even close to the look.

I think the mag is called Bimmer - but I'm not sure. I'd never buy it again.
One issue had as it's cover story a complete "how to make your 3 look like
an M3 a fool your friends" article. Totally stupid. But I guess if your
friends don't know what an M3 exhaust looks like......

I didn't want to read it any more because I was afraid of seeing a story on
how to turn a 750 into a low rider. Coincidentally, almost every
car/abortion they "feature" is for sale by the owner. "Call Ainsworth
at......"  Truly a sad mag.

Ahh, right, that explains it then. Your previous post hasn't appeared via my
news server, just my original and Michael's response - to what I assumed was
mine as there was no previous message body in his post.

Yes, I've seen some retrofit LED rings that are exactly as you say and I
fully agree with you. I want mine to look as original as possible, if tacky
then it's a non-starter.

Yep, I don't buy these mags as they have virtually no useful technical info
whatsoever, just faking and adding bits of fibreglass and fancy paint jobs.
Maybe I'm old fashioned, but to me a fancy paint job, a body kit and a set
of different wing mirrors is not a tuned motor! It vaguely borders on
customised, IMO.

Hahaha, now there's a thought...... hope the editor doesn't follow this ng,
you might well see one soon.

Says it all, really.
Happy new year,
Badger.

Then you need OEM lamp units complete.

Thanks. I don't mean to sound elitist, but I prefer to keep my BMW's stock.
My '01 740 with Hakkappita (sp?) snows is my winter car, and will likely
remain as is. My 03 M5 gets a few mods for performance. Dinan rear sway,
larger clutch when the too small stock unit goes, big brake kit when the
stock brakes need replacing, short shifter, etc. All for performance -
nothing in the way of silly, oversized anything for perceived "performance".
I like that it is (to most people -especially cops), just another 5 series.
I have an 87 M3 which is totally a track car, but that is a purpose built
car and really doesn't figure into this discussion.

I can understand trying to update features like the headlight system for
better night driving, but these kits especially are almost impossible to get
working properly, especially if you don't like various warning lights
staying on all the time.

To me, your car should be what it is. Anyone past puberty who wants to do
sh.t to make his car appear to be a newer model is not much different, to
me, than some moron driving around in a Fiero with a Ferrari body kit.
