How much does it cost (realisticaly) to get a new paint job on a BMW
528i? Also I want to change the default black trim on it, to match the
paint color (white). Does anyone have an idea on how to go about this,
and if so, if it is actuallu successful? Any advice/input would be
greatly appreciated! Thanks

It will be in the neighbor hood of 515,000 drachmae.

Actually, it might depend on where the heck you are.

Yes, it's greek to me too.  But nobody had any way to know that you were in
the US from your initial post.

Plan on spending a minimum of $1500 for a so-so job to around $3000 for a
pretty good one.

If you're near here (I'm above Atlanta) bring it to me & I'll do a show
quality job & save you at *least* $1,000 over any shop doing same quality.
Cost depends on the shape of the car, & whether it needs bodywork,
stripping, metal welded in to replace rust, etc.

Like everyone is saying, cost is really variable, depending on what you
want. The most cost involved is labor. Sanding, sanding, trim, sanding...If
you are a little handy you can do a lot of the prep and save a significant
amount , if the body guy will work with you about that.

I'd be very wary of doing a deal where you prep the surface by sanding,
etc. Preparation is 90% of a good paint job, and any true craftsman would
want this under their control. And if there were problems with the
finished result, they might (rightly) blame it on the preparation.

Stripping out trim parts is the limit of what I'd do.

However, it's likely to be better to simply buy a car of the same age in
better condition and of the wanted colour - it will hold its value better.
Unless you want a custom colour.
