I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to everyone and anyone
using this ng who may have taken any offence whatsoever at my recent
outbursts within the 'E39 Lemon' thread.
That is, everyone except one person who has continuously and constantly
taken every possible chance to have a go at me because I dared to "insult" a
particular model of bmw. What I actually did was queried the wisdom of a
suspension design that so readily gives or transmits vibration issues at the
slightest hint of any wear or imbalance. My opinion at the time was that the
design was not tolerant enough of any slight minor imbalance or wear,
regardless of how good a "driving machine" it was.
That particular person tried to tell me what was wrong with my car, a car
that he had never even seen or driven, and failed to accept that certain
items he told me needed replacing (note, he told me they needed replacing,
not that they were worthy of checking!) had been checked and were ok. He has
constantly failed to accept what was actually proven to have been causing
the symptoms despite being told on more than one occasion and seems to
genuinely believe that he is right, everyone else is wrong. In his eyes, I
am not entitled to have an opinion of my own - unless it conforms to his
beliefs, beliefs that include the idea that the dealer was in the right and
the garage that discovered the true cause were "dodgy".

Here is a recent quote -
"If I remember things right you refused to accept advice from me and others
on what was actually wrong with your car and how to fix it, preferring to
believe some dodgy garage."  but this contradicts his previous
"Of course, every make of car will have its lemon or two. Add in a poor
dealer and you have the answer."
- which backs up my explanation.

Please excuse me for going on at length on this subject, but I am sorry,
some people just provoke me too far with their blinkered, self-opinionated,
self-righteous, know-it-all, better-than-you attitudes.
Again, if I have offended anyone other than the obvious, please accept my
apology.
Badger.

The best apologies are short and sweet, and contain no alternate motives.

Dori, its over as far as I am concerned.
I have said my piece, I now hope the matter will be allowed to rest and
never dug up again.

No alternate motive Bradburn, just facts. As I have already said, I now hope
this whole sorry matter can be laid to rest and never dragged up again.

...apologize?  That sounded more like a long-winded bitch session to
me.  You can't apologize to everyone and then turn around and blame your
behavior on someone else in the same breath... apologies just don't work
that way.  You did not sound sincere, instead you appear to be using the
guise of this so-called "Public Apology" to give yourself license to
continue flaming another reader.

Don't get me wrong, you are certainly entitled to your opinion in any
case - as I am mine - and in my opinion, you only degraded yourself with
your rant.  A sincere apology involves taking full responsiblity for
your own behavior.  If you were truly sorry, you wouldn't have felt the
need to mention the actions of others in order to justify your own.  On
that note, I will take this opportunity to apologize in advance in case
I* have offended you* in any way.

(To make more sense out of that last statement, please feel free to
replace the asterisked words with the words "you" and "yourself"
respectively.)

PS:  I don't know what your poor car ever did to deserve you.  Please
sell it.
Badger - 28 Jan 2005 20:42 GMT
Aaron, it was not intended as a bitch, more an explanation.  There are obviously issues between dave and myself, I was apologising for the fact that others within the ng had to unfortunately endure it, if they were following the thread, that is.
Rather than allow or, to be more accurate, be a part of the cause of this to continue, I decided to stop it (as far as I am concerned) and apologise with an explanation for those who wondered what it was all about. If that in itself has upset you, then sorry.
As for your completely unnecessary comment "PS:  I don't know what your poor car ever did to deserve you.  Please sell it." , I got rid of the offending Lemon and now own an absolutely fabulous car (in my opinion), a 330dSE Sport Auto. I have been happy with it since I bought it last Easter. Your post held credibility until you stooped to that statement.

I have to apologize for that last statement - it was intended to be
humorous, even if at your expense.  I admit - I had no right to even
chime in on this thread as I just foung this ng today, and haven't the
slightest idea of what events led up to this.  I haven't cruised
newsgroups for years, and I had to see if I still had the ability to
intelligently flame someone.  You seemed to be the perfect candidate
when I saw "BMW" and "lemon" in the same sentence.

I am glad you have finally acquired a model more representative of BMW's
tradition of quality.  I myself  will continue to drive my E30 Cabrio
until it is no longer feasible to maintain, and at almost 200K miles on
the clock it is still going very strong. I expect it will provide at
least a few more years of "ultimate driving".

Guys.. its a newsgroup, get over it...
As a a wise man once said, Arguing on the internet is like winning the
special olympics... You may "win" the flame.. but your still retarded.
