Can you alter or change the chip in the computer of an E34 520i Auto,
to improove its speed, power, etc?

Yes. But people already have figured out the what the best program is and
sell them for $200.00
Not to sound like spam but the EAT chip seems to be the best on the market

The problem with this is Mark D'Sylva doesn't list an EAT chip for the E34
520i:

So, you'll probably have to get one custom made. Still, Mark is arguably one
of the better tuners, at least for US cars, and should be able to make one.
Just don't expect it to be cheap....
