hi, I have a328i touring from 95.
Lately there is something wrong..... By idle when I have the clutch in.. i
hear a noise, something rattling.
And when driving... shifting gear is very difficult, must use heavy force
Anywone idea?

Clutch problems. It sounds like it will probably fail very soon.
Doesn't matter what the problem is exactly, you'll end up having to
pull out the transmission to get it fixed. Might just be the throwout
bearing, but by the time I had it this far apart I'd throw the whole
clutch kit in (clutch disk, pressure plate, throwout and pilot
bearings)

That's my guess. How many miles do you have on the old one?

Car has runned 150.000 km.
Don't know if the clutched have replaced before, because i have driven
20.000 with it.

That's probably the original then. That's about right (~90k miles),
depending on how much stop and go traffic you drive in. Many folks
get much more but they are driving a lot on the highway. Your 10 year
old clutch is probably due for replacement. Have a good independant
mechanic give it a look-see first and get a few quotes on the job.
Parts should be ~$3-400 and the labor should not be too bad, maybe 3
hours?

My clutch has 182k and never sees a main road ;-) 15 years old too. BMW
clutches can last a long time if not abused.

Nothing to worry about. All BMWs do that when warm, especailly ones the
miles mount up.

Change the tranny fluid. I'll bet it's worse when the fluid is cold?
Redline synthetic oil will help.

Shifting is at all times different, hot and cold.
Problem appears the same time with the clutch problem

They're unlikely to be related unless the clutch is dragging. That could
be caused by a bad slave/master cylinder. But I don't think you have a
major problem here.

Ok, JB. If you say so. I have always found these symptoms to be
worthy of consideration...

Huh? I have the same car, well, almost I have a 95 325i. There
wasn't a 328 in the US in 95 so it must be the equivelent of a '96.
My clutch (with 110k miles on it) makes no noise whatsoever and I have
no problems shifting in the cold or otherwise, plus the tranny takes
ATF, not oil, unless that's what you meant, synthetic ATF.
I guess they all don't do that... ;-)
