I guess we can finally drop the idea that BMW names their cars logically
when the 330i and the 325i have the same motor in different states of
tune...

Yeah I know that -- it makes no more sense than the old 735 vs 745 E23 did.
Anyway I like(d) it better when the displacement match(ed) those last two
digits.

It's not as if the 323i made much sense either....using a 2.5 liter
engine.

Unfortunately Merc is also going down this illogical path.

yabut, it did perform as if it only had 2.3 liters...

Watch out, I'm going to break into your houses and reset the clocks so they
don't match...

Your threat would have more weight if you were threatening to break into my
house and synchronize all the clocks...

Invite him in when the clocks go forward. That's save you a
pain-in-the-rear job.

Only Stateside. The rest of us actually get a 2.5 litre engine with
(wait for it) practically identical power and torque figures. Why?
Answers on a postcard, please :)

Thanks, but no thanks. It's great to be see these reviews, but now I
can say without reservation that I hate *all* of BMW's designs. *MAN*,
is that frustrating.
Does anybody else think these new BMW designs will ever be seen as
classics? Or will they be widely recognized as kowtowing to ephemeral
fashion, and so, lose their resale value much faster than the BMWs of
the past?
IMHO, BMW's current crop of cars are much poorer values than their
progenitors, whether today or tomorrow. It seems to me that the only
folks who would want BMWs like these (Ugly, numb steering, soft
suspension, less reliable, lower resale) will the gold chain crowd.
:-( Is anybody aware of other car builders who are still 'keepers of
the flame'? Other than Porsche?
