e36 cruise control problem

the cruise control on my 95 E36 Sedan has sh.t it self. it still activates,
resumes , accelerates, decelerate but soon  as its sets it  kicks its self
out. bit bugger as i use cruise all the time

any thoughts on where to look

I'd look at the switches on the brake and clutch.
