Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life: no one can come to the Father(God)(in Heaven), but by me." (John 14:6) This means that if you die without trusting in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour you will die in your sins and be forever separated from the love of God in a place called Hell. The Holy Bible descibes Hell as a place of eternal torment, suffering, pain and agony for all those who have rejected Jesus Christ. The good news is that you can be sure you are going to Heaven when this life is over if you allow Jesus Christ to save you today. Do not wait until later to be saved because you do not know exactly when you will die. [ Posted by: RonaldGrossi3812@yahoo.com on May 13, 2005 ] [ 4:20:14 pm ]

Listen carefully now, here it comes:
THERE IS NO GOD.
Got that? There is no reason for a god, of any size, description or colour, to exist. Never has been, never will be. There is no afterlife, no reward, no punishment; what you see is what you get. This is it matey, there is no more, so get used to it.
The sooner you and the rest of the people that are labouring under these misapprehensions can get your heads round these facts, the sooner we can all start pulling together. Not to mention the morgues will be a lot quieter.
Start taking responsibility for your own existence rather than blindly trusting in a myth that devalues human life, all in the forlorn hope of a "reward".
Got all that? Good.
Now, work to improve your own life and the lives of those around you, and stop being so foolish.

Explain to me how these were made. >Facts please not opinions. Thank you. In the generally accepted scientific and logical systems of proof, it's a fact that the proponent of a theory (e.g. the existence of a god) is required to prove his assertion. It is not up to the opponent to disprove it.
AFAIK, there never has been the slightest proof that any god exists. Prove me wrong and I will believe in your god.
I offer you the examples of the tooth fairy and Santa Claus to work with.
Good luck.

And they believe it because as best anyone in the scientific community can tell, Darwin was right. If it were incorrect, it being a scientific theory which has withstood about what, 100 years of pounding now?, some flipped out churchie would have found a way to disprove it. They haven't, which means as a theory, it still stands. Churchies are just so pissed at not being able to disprove it that they invent silly things to say about it, having nothing of importance to say on the subject. Intelligent design. Actually that is an inaccuracy that people like you try to maintain. The theory is that both apes and people came from the same background and a same relative, not that one came from the other. It's a theory that has been around for a very long time without anyone being able to show it's not true.
And I guess you can't prove there is a god at all AND can't show that evolution is not true so that's two for my side!

Suzanne D. - 22 Aug 2005 10:23 GMT >>How the f.ck do you know? Can you PROVE there is NO God? Guess not, eh >>a.shole. > > OK, prove there IS one... God is obsolete. The idea of a deity was necessary long ago when early humans needed a way to explain so many of the strange things they found in nature. The Greek myths are a wonderful example of this. The Greeks invented gods and supernatural beings to explain nearly everything found in nature, from lightning to grasshoppers, and when science explained and clarified these things, their gods became obsolete, existing today only as fascinating stories.
Similarly, the modern god that Christians believe in is a throwback to the time before we had science to explain so many of the natural phenomena that we find around us. Early people didn't understand death and birth and life and nature, and they could only explain these things through the invention of an imaginary all-powerful being that takes care of it all for us without our having to think too much about it. But now that so much is explained or at least explainable through science, the concept of god is no longer needed. The only difference between modern Christians and the ancient Greeks is that the Greeks were wise enough to know when to move on to something more plausible. --S.

My guess it's still religion. Unfortunately, you have a good point. The Greeks left behind their obviously unnecessary gods in favor of a less-obviously unnecessary god. My point in bringing it up was to illustrate how people are apt to create supernatural beings to explain things that they have a hard time understanding. Simply because people created the myth of god doesn't mean he/she/it exists. It only means people needed an explanation for things they couldn't yet explain through science.

Of course his neighbors would be pissed off at the noise, but hey, one has to at least give the impression of authority. Jesus with his do-rag, ponytail, a tatoo on one arm that says "I am the Way", another tatoo on the other arm that says "Peacemaker", a very hot Mary Magdeline on the back, and his 12 buddies all cruising around the countryside. Yup, that's my Jesus. If he ever dropped it or had some other accident he would say "Daddy, dammit", get up, bless his bike and his bike would be made whole again. If while you were riding with Jesus and your bike would quit, all you would have to do is have Jesus come over and bless it and it would be fixed.
My sister was talking about the incident where Jesus fed the crowd with a few loaves and fishes. I told her that while he certanly did do that, he held out the Twinkies and Ho-Ho's for his buddies.

Atheist: one who believes that there is no deity
But since the rules of logic dictate that one cannot prove a negative, and since no one can conclusively prove that there IS a God, the best anyone can hope for is agnosticism. Except that sounds too much like a disease!
Personally, I prefer to keep my science and religion separate. There is no place for faith in science, and no need for faith in religion if its tenets could be proven.
wdukes@fw.private.neotoma.org - 12 Sep 2005 17:20 GMT >>Still waiting for a reply after three weeks ... if you're going to call >>other people a.sholes, I think that you need to show why this is correct. THey put their faith in not believing in god.
As an agnostic, I am prepared to accept either outcome.
There does need to be faith in science. A scientist has faith that they are extending knowledge. Even if an experiment or theory fails, they at least know what won't work, and they have faith they can try again tomorrow. Which is not much different from the believer and non-believer in god above. Faith is a very powerful thing that can be misused by all.
All put their pants on the same way (unless they are very agile or have prepositioned their pants the night before).

THey put > their faith in not believing in god. Actually atheists don't have any faith at all. They will happily believe in any god provided there is proof that he exists. As it stands, there is no proof that the christian gods or jesus even existed outside of the bible. Since the bible is rejected by atheists, so are the 'proofs" used by christians.

And if you could examine all the beliefs ever held by mankind, you'd have quite a chuckle.
Suzanne D. - 29 Aug 2005 03:23 GMT > And if you could examine all the beliefs ever held by mankind, you'd have > quite a chuckle. I live among Mormons here in southern Utah, and when non-Mormons make fun of the strange beliefs held by Mormons, I have to laugh. Magic decoder glasses, baptizing the long-dead, secret handshakes and secret names to be called when it is time to enter heaven, and magic protective underwear is really ridiculous, but then again so is the idea of a virgin birth, a guy walking on water, and turning a couple of loaves of bread into a meal for hundreds of people. When it is your own religion, you tend to ignore how idiotic it is and make fun of the goofy beliefs of everyone else, but when you are on the outside looking in, they ALL seem equally idiotic. --S. And before you even start, the bible is NOT PROOF. You have to prove there is a god BEFORE citing the bible.

I was in a religion class once wherein we were talking about the authenticity of the bible. A few people suggested that it was a work of fiction; a collection of fables and allegories to help people make good judgments. One girl raised her hand and said, "But if the bible were fake, wouldn't god have destroyed it?" --S.

This creative writing contest has been a hoot, but as you all know, we have a finite amount of space in this new book and can't include them all. So we are going to assign each book a number and put all the numbers in this big hat, and our lovely spokesmodel Mary Magdalene will choose the winners at random..." --S.
