520i e34 auto box problem

auto gear box problem,1991 5201 e34, when the box is hot it jams in
one gear, slow starting off and just wont change i have been told this
is limp home mode.
also just before the box gets hot it jumps in and out of 5th gear,
when its cold its fine can any one help regards john.

First thing to try is a fluid and filter change. Also check the
electrical connections to the box are clean.

It sounds like it could be a sticking solenoid.
