Bentley Service Manual

Hi folks, a belated Merry Christmas to one an all.

I've managed to lay my hands on the Bentley manual for the 5 Series
(1989 - 1995) and wondered if anyone could tell me how much of that - if
any - will be relevant to my 1990 730i (E32/M30)?

This manual is in pdf format so if anyone wants a 61MB email just let me
know.

A Happy New Year to everyone :-)

Merry Christmas Steve -

I'd love a copy of the service manual - unless you were joking.

My son just latched onto a 91 535i, and I'm sure the manual will come in
handy.  PDF is super, since we can print and grease up only the pages needed
for a specific job.

Just downloaded 360MB torrent of a TV show I forgot to record, so a mere
61MB is child's play.  With a fast DSL connection, it shouldn't take but a
few minutes - or hours.

Thanks

the publisher that spent months disassembling the car to make the book may
not appreciate it.
Music and movies are one thing to scam, but bentley does not earn millions
like hollywood.
Don't encourage people to give it away, let them buy it or Bentley may end
up stopping their books, and then we are all f.cked!

BTW, it will be relatively useless for a 730, as the v8 is barely mentioned.

I appreciate your comments about the morality of offering copies and the
possible effect that it could have on the publisher. If it were a manual
for a current model car I wouldn't propagate it in this way but I doubt
that Bentley's future will be much changed by missing one or two sales
of this manual.

As to the manuals use to me; I wish I had a V8 but as my OP says M30
engine which is basically the same as the 530 and 535 from the same era.
I was really more interested in comments about suspension, transmission,
etc., but thanks anyway.

I dunno, Steve - why don't you write a nice message to Bentley and ask them,
since you are so assured that they won't miss a sale or two to an
intellectual property thieve such as yourself.

And then , do post back here to educate us simple folk as to the different
kinds of copyright abusers.
You know, tell us about the difference between nice, wholesome, well-meaning
Robin Hood thieves like you, and the other  bad, evil, copyright thieves
like, well, you tell us..........the world wonders....

<snip>

I should have known there'd be a member of the morality police along at
some time. I do apologise if my position on this offends your obviously
perfect record of obeying every single law ever passed.

I didn't say they wouldn't miss the sales, I said that not having those
sales was unlikely to break them (as a company) and I still believe that
to be true.

As I didn't rip off the manual I'm not guilty of stealing - at least not
according to UK law. Neither did I request the manual from someone else
- it was sent to me completely unsolicited - so at best (worst?) I'm
guilty of handling stolen goods. Oh, and before you jump back up on that
high horse of yours that isn't an attempt at justifying myself it's a
simple statement of the situation as I understand it.

Copyright theft is just that .. theft. I'm not trying to delude myself
that having this manual amd offering it to others is anything else.

There, you see, I've prostrated myself in front of your altar of
perfection ...

I have NO problem downloading movies or music from a corrupt hollywood....
but Bentley actually did good, hard work that is worth the money.
If 100 people don't buy it, then it will eventually have an effect on the
next BMW bentley you buy, the book might be cheap or non existant.... or
maybe you have no intention of buying another bimmer.
the point is that it is rare that something is worth the price charged, the
bentley is one of them.
steal from hollywood or music all you want, but bentley is different./

This is so true! I have an 1990 E34 535i, 5spd, 103K miles and I know Brett
Anderson *might* have made a CD or manual for it, but because of all the
stealing, he won't. That too bad as all E34 owners would have greatly
benefitted from his experience....

Steve,

I don't know of anyone that can receive (or send for that matter) 61MB
emails.  Now if it happens to find its way to someplace that it can be
downloaded from please do let me know...  ;-)

BTW - I have a hard copy of that same manual, but it would be cool to
have an electronic copy as well, for portability sake.

Largest attachment GMAIL allows is 10-12MB... you would have to split it up
for that... How about just posting it in one of the binary groups?

Interesting how when you're an a.shole you become anonymous . CBIAM,
indeed.

I must have struck a nerve.  I fail to see how posting a link, as
requested, to the cheapest price I've found for the manual, makes
me an a**hole.

I ordered them from that site and received them the very next day.
Good service and a great price.

Nothing to stop anyone using a false e-mail address but giving a real name
in the text.

Well, actually, there are a few reasons why doing that may easily link back
to email addresses that one might not want disclosed.

But not to worry, Dave, they know who they are, regardless of whatever
monkeyspeak comes at the bottom of the post.

Very true.  Paul Erickson's the name.
BMW Guy - 16 Apr 2007 22:26 GMT
SteveG, I would love it - I have an E39, but maybe some of it would apply
to me... Can you email me a link, or better yet, can you just post the 61MB
file here (and really offend the morality police).

tahnks,
Mike
