Hi Just a question?
My wife inadvertently spilled chicken noodle soup on the front floor
board under the passenger seat. I want to take the front passenger seat
out to wash the carpet. Does any one have any idea how to take it out
or know where I can get instructions? THANKS

Recline the seat back to about 45 degrees. Run the seat fully forward.
Pull off the plastic covers on the seat runners. Remove the bolts securing
the rear of the runners - torx, IIRC.
Run the seat fully back and do the same at the front.

Disconnect battery.

Unplug the seat wiring.

Two people will probably be needed to lift it clear.

This isn't from the TIS but how I did it on an E34. Reclining the back
makes it easier to get it through the door - but as yours is a convertible
it's up to you.

17MM socket works just fine. They're not Torx.. on the convertible, the
inside track has TWO bolts at the rear - you have to run the seat fully
forwards to find the second one. The track front bolt heads are under
little plastic covers you can remove with your fingers. There are a
total of 5 bolts for each seat. You can't move it until ALL 5 are
removed (DAMHIK..)

Either way works.. I'd also suggest removing the trim over the door side
track as Dave mentioned. It is plastic and held in with 3 little plastic
screw type fasteners. If you don't remove the trim before removal the
chance of breaking it is high. Luckily - it's cheap ~$4.00 US (DAMHIK).
Make a mental note of how it goes together - it's two parts..

Not really necessary. Just make certain the key is out of the ignition
and stays out.

Yup.

Yup. If you want to remove it. The convertible seat wights something
over 60LBs (strong frame since the seatbelt fastens to the seat frame.)
Lots easier to do this with the TOP DOWN.

You may find just tipping it backwards gives you enough clearance to
clean up the chicken soup.. in that case - don't disconnect the wiring,
you'll want to use the motors to adjust the seatback tilt so you can tip
it backwards. Tilt the seatback fully forwards with the motor, then use
the rear-seat access lever to make it REALLY go fully forwards. You can
then grab the bottom forward edge and lift - tilting the seat back so it
rests on the rear seat. This gives a LOT of room underneath - probably
enough for your cleanup project.

Top down is the clue - you don't have to worry about hitting the roof as
you remove it.
