2000 740 Strange Window Problem

Hi,

A friend of mine just purchased a used 2000 740i.

Three of the side windows exhibit some very strange patterns. It appears
the film on the inside of the glass has melted.

This glass is very thick and heavy compared to the glass in my 2000 528i.
Is this some kind of different safety glass and if so, is it normal to
display this kind of defect after a certain amount of time?

What is very strange is three of these windows exhibit this problem but
the  right front passenger window seems flawless.

The dealer has agreed to replace one of these windows (the worst one) but
will not replace the other two.

Any information and suggestions are appreciated.

Might be double glazed, it was optional on the V8 and standard on the
V12.
