Hi Viatologists,
Let's take a break from the Orient and revisit the west! (For our friends
in the California newsgroups, the Worldwide Highway Library recently
announced a series of Beijing photos on newsgroups "misc.transport.road" and
"rec.autos.driving". See http://groups.google.com/group/rec.autos.driving
for more information, then search for "Calrog Beijing".)
The San Francisco Bay Area is a quintessential melting-pot of Asian,
Italian, Hispanic and Western European cultures. It is also home to
valleys, mountains, rivers, streams and salt-marshes. The ethnic and
geographic diversity is well pronounced in the South Bay sub-region, where
successful businesspersons enjoy life in the green Santa Cruz Mountains and
the surrounding Santa Clara Valley.
The communities of Los Gatos and Saratoga represent the refined lifestyle of
the South Bay, combining valley and hills. Here, you can sip on
locally-grown wine, enjoy a French pastry and take a wedge of Asiago cheese
home. A major connector for the Los Gatos/Saratoga area is State Route 9.
The Worldwide Highway Library celebrates this comforting area w/ its latest

You've heard of WHL-360 technology. So what is it? It's a special
algorithm that allows you to, from one fixed location, view a highway from
*any* angle. Front, side and rear! WHL-360 uses a special proprietary
engine in an Apple Quicktime wrapper.

And here's one that is for a girls summer camp in northern MN that my
wife attended and later worked at. Apparently this can be created at
the amateur level.

Now, that looks nice. Just curious as to how that was made - it is
obviously not a WHL quality stitch job.

Does "WHL" stand for anything? To me it looks like a ViewMaster image after
you've been drinking and/or poked in the eye by your little sister.
