So I'm on the freeway yesterday. I'm in the far right lane because my
exit is coming up soon. As I'm rolling up behind a Sloth school bus
(empty, heading back to the school bus storage yard) going 55 in a 65
zone, a Corolla S(loth) comes in from the on-ramp to our right. Now,
this Sloth school bus has a HUGE clear space in front of it, because
he's moving at least 15 MPH slower than everyone else on the road. The
Corolla S(loth) could have very easily accelerated to 65+ and merged
in front of the bus, but of course he doesn't do that; he matches the
speed of the bus and wants to merge in between the bus and my car.
WTF is wrong with people?
After this putztard merges in, I decide to demonstrate what he COULD
HAVE done: I signal, merge right into the acceleration lane, and pass
them both on the right, and merge back left into the wide open gap in
front of the school bus.
Do you think the Corolla S(loth) driver got a clue?

Lol. How did you determine it was empty, and its destination...?!

You seem to imply that you didn't leave enough room for a car to merge
while following a school bus.

A better question for you would be, "WTF is wrong with me"?

That you're an idiot? They'd have to be pretty stupid to have missed
that.

Uh huh...

Of the total of the 3 vehicles mentioned in your report, "them both"
comprises which 2...?

Isn't the school bus speed limit 55? In which case, the bus is doing what it's
supposed to do.
(Back home in Ohio, the signs specifically include non-commercial buses in
the 55mph group as well as semis. I'm not sure about here)
> Do you think the Corolla S(loth) driver got a clue?
I seriously doubt it.

Is it? I thought only trucks were subject to the 55 limit.

Well, even if he was not subject to the limit, my problem isn't with
the bus driver. After all, he was in the rightmost lane, which is
where slower traffic is supposed to be. It was the moron Corolla Sloth
driver whose behavior annoyed me.

Fair enough, but you called him a sloth, which (to me, at least), implies
otherwise.

"Sloth" isn't always pejorative; sometimes it's merely descriptive. :)

The same with "cager".

I've driven some school buses that were geared so that they don't go over
55. They can barely make 50 mph. I try not to take them on the highway,
but I have to drive what I'm given.

Is that supposed to be a safety feature?

CA has a statewide 55 limit for commercial vehicles -- and for a school
bus driver, one speeding ticket means losing your job. Labeling him a
sloth is uncalled for. It is a stupid speed limit, but it's not his
fault.

Maybe he can't tell that there aren't any kids on the bus. I can see
not wanting to scare them just to save a few seconds.

I would bet money it didn't. These people are oblivious to what's
going on around them.
