Hi All,

A video of California State Route 82 has been added to Videos of Worldwide
Highways, a Calrog.com component.  On location in southern San José, the
route is officially known as Monterey Road.  Historically, the stretch was a
constituent of the old Monterey Highway/US Federal Route 101.

These days, federal traffic's assigned to a modern freeway that runs
parallel and a few kilometres more inland.

So today I finally eclipsed 20,000 miles on my 2006 Toyota RAV4. I
purchased it in March but due to school and work commitments, I haven't
been able to make many long journeys. I expect that by March of 2007, I
will have ~27,000 miles, which would be somewhat below average than
what I experienced with my 2001 Honda Civic.

While out Christmas shopping, I purchased a new speciality drink and
steamer appliance for my kitchen. My old one had a malfunction due to
the motor overheating.

How has everyone's holiday travels been?

Happy Holidays,

I'm moving out into my own place for the first time ever.  Took me 24
years, but thanks to the high rents around here, I decided to save my
money for a few years.

Thanks to the move, as well as finals, I haven't been able to go
anywhere since my Seattle road trip in mid-November.  Tomorrow,
however, I'll be going with 3 other friends to Monterey and Carmel for
the day.  I'm not sure if that qualifies for a road trip (Silicon
Valley to Monterey is about 75 miles), and in any case, we're going to
be checking out different neighborhoods.  It certainly won't be a
roadgeek-type daytrip.

Not really doing too much holiday travel this year.  Only going to the
other side of town to spend Christmas with my brother, after a stop
along the way to pick up my mom.

I'm feeling good about the miles I'm putting on my car.  Since I drive a
company van M-F I average less than 20 miles a week on my 2004
Highlander.  The biggest miles it gets is on trips - like 4200 on the
trip to Yosemite last summer.  Anyway, I've had it for a little over 2
years and I'll hit 20,000 miles when I go to my brothers' tomorrow.

My wife has the 2001 Civic and she does commute to work daily.  But it's
still only 10 miles round trip.  She right around 30,000 miles.  So,
barring some calamity we should be keeping both cars for a while.

Take care,
Rich
