OK... i travel to atlanta every 2-3 months.  I live in canada.  On my
last trip, i was claiming booze on the way back to canada...so i read
over the info card on claiming...and it said (i could be wrong...or
missing a big piece of the puzzle)     "you dont have to pay duty on
gifts under $10,000"  ...

IF that is infact what i read...  what is stopping me from buying a
pair of boston accoustic 6x9's, a pair of boston 4x6 plate speakers...
gift wrapping them...and avoid paying duty on them ???

Anyone have any comments????  Anyone know what the actully situation
is at the border.

oh yah, 1 more thing... i am reffering to flying back and forth

Not sure where you get the $10,000. but from Revenue Canada:

"While you are abroad, you can send gifts free of duties to friends in
Canada under certain conditions. To qualify, each gift has to be worth
CAN$60 or less and cannot be an alcoholic beverage, a tobacco product, or
advertising matter. If the gift is worth more than CAN$60, the recipient
will have to pay regular duties on the excess amount.

It is always a good idea to include a gift card to avoid any
misunderstanding. While gifts you send from abroad do not count as part of
your personal exemption, gifts you bring back do."
