What next (installed a receiver)

I installed a Pioneer receiver. While the quality of sound became
better, it still leaves a lot to be desired. I mostly bought this
receiver for features such as USB.

What I would like, is to explore what else I can upgrade. I would like
to hear more bass and generally clearer sound.

The most straightforward path that I can think of, would be buying an
amplifier, subwoofer, and speakers.

Is there something that I am missing?

Interesting. Any thoughts on the wiring issue?

Didn't see any mention of wiring in your system plans. What kind of
equipment do you plan on installing?

I was thinking, speakers, subwoofer and amplifier. Wire sizing is mostly
determined by amps.

Let me rephrase that.. What particular brands and products are you
considering on installing?

I am not too clear about that, just never dealt with the issue before.

I would definately suggest upgrading the speakers and considering sound
damping around the speaker baffle.  The single biggest improvement in sound
bar none.

After that amps if you wnat louder and sub if you want deeper.
