Bought a new Impala they other day and was using this guy to swap out my
remote start and keyless system....after a $92 Tow to the dealer and 5 hours
of labor it's still not fixed right....they gear indicator (digital) remains
on all the time.  This guy TAPPED my starter in.no solder at all.......  I
fully intend on suing him to recoup my losses to the dealer if he won'y pay
them....do most installers have insurance?

Thanks

Solder is not required, or needed.

Perhaps not, but quoting is dumbass.

the installer may have indeed messed up, but its important to find
out exactly what he did wrong...  Its common for car dealers to
blame the installer for all kinds of things the installer may not have
done wrong,  ALWAYS specificly ask to see what the installer
did wrong...   Not using solder does not make it wrong.  By my
thinking at the most an unsoldered (loose?) wire would not cause
a display to stay on,  it would likely cause something to be OFF or
intermittent, but not cause the display to stay on...

Suing someone over it is probably not feasable even if you can
prove he did something wrong,  your attourney will tell you if they
dont have deep pockets (lots of cash) it isnt worth going after them.

Shops have insurance to protect themselves from something like this
but it will still require some proof....

He jumped the thing in the fuse box as well, aparently he finds the wire he
needs, trims the insulation, pokes a hole with an awl, then puts the wire in
and tapes it up.  He also smoked the brain for the remote starter as when he
removed it, it was burned up and stunk.

I brought him a perfect starter (he uninstalled it from another car I traded
in) and a perfect car, and now I got a burned up starter and a car with
electrical problems.  i am leaning towards him as the culprit.

Using taps is not a sign of negligence.

There is really not enough information in this post to indicate that
this shop was wholly negligent in the state of your vehicle. Based on
what you wrote I'd just assume sue the dealership as well.
