MMXpress not worth a damn anymore?

What happened to MMXpress?  I used to buy from them a few years back and the
service was always 100%.  I placed an order with them almost two weeks ago
and haven't heard a thing.  I've emailed them four times to find out about
the status of my order (to see if it had at least shipped) and all I got was
a short shitty reply after the third email telling me that I should have
used the form on the website to inquire about my order (which I had already
done with no luck).  They don't even answer the phone.  If my order hasn't
shipped yet at this point I'd rather just buy in town, but I don't want the
UPS guy dropping off a package the next day.  They thing is I can't get
these people (John?) to let me know anything.  So what's with MMXPress?  Are
they no longer a reputable company?  Anyone ordered from there lately?
Onen1n1s3 - 09 Apr 2004 02:58 GMT
May I ask what you ordered from them?

I can get you an answer by noon tomorrow.

Are you saying they kept your money and never shipped you anything?

And are you saying they took your money 3 weeks ago?

Guess you really didn't want an answer.

I was able to determine:
A) You never paid for anything
B) The item is a discontinued 2003 item and not in stock

I just saw all of your posts for the first time.

I never said I paid for anything.  I have no idea if they ran my credit card
or not, they have the info, I placed the order.  The item is still listed on
their website.  I placed the order and recieved the usual email with my
order no.  If the item is no longer available, how come I was never
informed?  I've been sending emails for the past two weeks.  I could have
bought the head unit in town a long time ago.  Instead I've been waiting and
emailing for nothing, with not even a simple reply.  How come you were able
to get this information and yet I got no response at all?  Is that good
service?

What is your point?

it seems like they are trying to say that since they share
the same mailserver, same address and possibly the
same owner, they must be crooks...

I dont see how that makes em crooks...??

True the service at MMX seems to be worse
(more public complaints anyway) since the old owner
(FAT JOHN) ran off with a fireman....

Whoah... hold your horses there buddy...

I made no value judgement about mmxpress or mainstreet-audio.

The question posed was how Quigmester would have access to this fella's
order information, which I found a bit odd.... so...

I took some time and noticed that they have the same physical snail mail
address and their email is run on the same server.

I posted that info for the benefit of the thread originator since he has
apparently had a difficult time finding sales support through normal
channels.

I've never dealt with either company, but I've more positive than
negative things about both.

Draw whatever random conclusions you like, but don't try telling me I
called anyone crooks.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was wondering.  I have no clue who that guy is,
so why would I want to give him all of my personal information?

>    I took some time and noticed that they have the same physical snail mail

So if they are the same business (or at the least share the same building)
what's so hard about someone at MMXpress (where I placed the order) replying
to one of my several emails and letting me know something?  Why do I have to
post to a newsgroup to get an answer from some guy two weeks later?  I could
have bought the damn radio in town a long time ago.  What's so hard about
taking 10 seconds to email a reply to a customer?  WTF?

Thanks, by the way.

What the hell is this all about?  Did John sell the business to someone
else?  Like my original post asked... Is MMXpress just not worth a damn
anymore or what?  The prices seem not as good as they were a few years back
and the service (from my recent experience) can kiss my a.s.
Masterson - 10 Apr 2004 18:58 GMT
His point was....

The question was asked how did Quig get the information?

Erik did some research and posted his results.
Erik was answering the question.

The answer is that Quig and MMXpress are the same operation.
That is how Quig got the answer as to the status of the order.

Not rocket science.

He did some research and jumped to the wrong conclusion that they are the
"same damned company" which they are not. So he fed the OP misinformation
stated as a fact. To me it implied that they are the same company and he was
getting ripped off. So I asked what his point was in order to clarify why he
decided he needed to post that. If you notice cornona was asking Quig the
question not Erik.

> The answer is that Quig and MMXpress are the same operation.

And where do you get that they are "the same operation"? They share
resources and don't share alot of things ( all according to Quiqmeister who
would know) so I am not sure how they are the same operation.

> Not rocket science.

No it's not. I asked a pretty simple question for which I figured Erik would
answer since I posed the question to him. I guess clarification is a bad
thing.

geez.

I never figured anyone would find this interesting.

While MainStreet and MMX share several resources (even moreso while John gets
settled in his new house and with some other projects) they are not the same
business.

A careful comparison will yield many similarities and many differences.

Back to the original question -
an item was ordered that is no longer available.  Normally this would mean no
charges were posted to the buyers card, and email would go out, and the record
of the sale would be deleted.

Between spam filters and multiple email accounts, the guys working the web
sites constantly hear the complaint "nobody ever got back to me"
when they have used the only contact information the customer provided.

I have ready access to charge records and inventory status.  I determined that
the item in question was sold out more than a month ago, and that nothing was
charged to this individuals card.

The sale was voided, the invoice deleted and that was that.

If you could see the volume of fraudulent transactions attempted each day, you
would realize why it's not practical to retain a database of non-completed
sales.

So where did the communication break down?  Did he miss the original email that
would have cleared up the matter from day one?  That would be my best guess.

Bullshit.  There was no communication.  No one emailed me a damn thing or
replied to a single email EXCEPT for ONE sarcastic reply that if I wanted to
check my oder status that I should have used the form on the website...
which I did with no luck.

Man please.  Save that.  It's not even that big of a deal to me, but the
fact remains that your serice (or MMXpress or whoever) in my experience is
shitty at this point.  And for the record, thanks for letting me know that I
could stop waiting for my radio to arrive.  I just wish I would have been
informed two weeks ago through a reply to one of my *several* emails and not
through a newsgroup from *some guy*.
coronadeluxe - 10 Apr 2004 21:15 GMT
By the way, didn't you say that the Alpine CDA-9813 has been gone for over a
month now?  It might help if you took it off your website (and the other
clones).  Probably the CDA-9811/CDA-9815 as well.  Might help others from
experiencing my problem...

I ordered a Pioneer 750MP, Directed Audio S650 components and a dual amp 4
gauge kit from them a week or so before Christmas, and everything went
perfectly smooth.  Customer service was excellent, John was very helpful and
presented me with several great deals that weren't posted on their site.  I
would buy from them again in a second.  I wouldn't panic too much, I'm sure its
just a mix up or something on their end.

If the item is special order or a backordered product, then you're going
to be waiting a while. Says so in their shipping policy. Use the form on
the site, and John will get you taken care of.
