I have 2 Alpine Type R 10's in a sealed enclosure (1 cu ft per
woofer).  I have a Lanzar 16002c Rackmount amplifier.  (It's rated at
2 x 400 WRMS at 4 ohms, 2 x 720 WRMS at 2 ohms).  I am unsure if this
amp is rated correctly, however.  I want more SPL.  I was thinking of
buying 2 more subs and wiring it down to 2 ohms, or should I look into
something else?  For my bass, sound quality is not all that important
to me, although I do like it to sound atleast somewhat musical because
in addition to bass music, I also enjoy classical music.

Isn't that a tall bill?

I laughed when I read this, until I realized one of the playlists on
my iPod that I listen to in my car has DMX's "Ruff Ryder Anthem"
followed not to long after by Mason Williams' "Classical Gas".

Of course, my "In the Car" playlist isn't organized by genre or mood.
I just go through my library and pick out a dozen or so songs that I'd
like to listen to while driving to and from work the next day.  That
same playlist also has Black Sabbath and Elvis Costello, so there's
really no rhyme or reason to it.

That's gonna need EQ presets for certain :-)

You say that you want more SPL ... but at what frequency range?
I would suspect that you would recognize a significant increase by adding
the pair of subs. You may want to tighten up the enclosure size also,
recommended is 0.55 - 0.8 cuft. The 1 cuft enclosure will enhance the bottom
end, but overall will result in lower then optimal SPL. You could get fancy
with ported or bandpass also, but the SPL boost is limited to a fairly tight
frequency range.
