Hello all,

My dad has a 95 Tahoe and he only gets engine noise ( AM  dont know about
FM ) obviuosly when the engine is on. If the ignition is on ACC no noise.

He has had this problem since he got the truck, Dealer said they added 2
ground leads to the radio and changed the antenna, he has delt with it.

I remember from my younger years ( when I had the money and time to fool
around with radios in cars) there use to be a noise filter, sort of like a
large capacitor that was installed on the positive and negative leads at the
radio location.

Do they still make some sort of noise filter?

Also what type of wire connector does he have. I think my Jimmy is a 21 pin
connector.

I just removed my stock stereo from an 98 Jimmy and would like to see if I
install this radio would he get the same noise but want to make it a test
only if his
harness matches my radio.

Thanks for your help.

Keep in mind the car could have a bad ground anywhere and cause that
problem. Try checking the factory ground straps starting with the engine
ground strap and work your way back. I bet you will find one that is rusted
or badly connected.
