Well, from the date on the PCB, it looks to be a piece from 1993, and
may not have even been released in the US. I've never seen it before,
but that's not saying much.
If you want an 18-bit D/A converter for the car, I see them on eBay
from time to time. There's a Coustic two-channel D/A converter on
there now, with an integral line driver. The item number is
3089158702

Thanks, Scott. This may do the trick, if the price doesn't skyrocket.

You're welcome. I didn't know exactly what you were looking for as
far as inputs go. I noticed the Coustic piece has a Toslink optical
input - I don't know if that's the same as or compatible with the
SPDIF input on the A/D/S piece. If you want a .PDF version of the
Coustic's owner's manual, it's available here:

Monster also licenses a D/A/-C from numbers crunches, you should give it a
look.
click on this link, I've translated it for you to English.

or should I say, highlight it, and paste it in you address bar, or
your search engine. it should show up translated this way.
Mark that was actually a piece that was made for the Japanese market.. The
distributor in Japan which was ADST Japan actually had his own line of
products that was build exclusively for them. Like for instance the first
generation PQ40's and PH30's that had Burr Brown op-amps in them and some
other tweaks that they liked to do.. Or the 641PX's. The Asian market got
many things that the US did not.. They had no problems spending the money
where as the US market always questioned the price..
