I'm getting ready to install a Pioneer '7500 DVD head along with an AVIC80
nav unit. I've never had a nav before and I was wondering about the antenna
install. You have the option of putting it on the dash with a small metal
plate under it (ground plane, I assume) or do the rooftop mount with its
magnetic base. Have any of you ever done a comparison of signal strength
between these two install locations? I'm more interested in a solid signal
so rooftop mounting isn't a problem, but if there's no appreciable
differences, I'll go dash-mount.

I would think roof mount would give you best overall performance... it
really depends how hard and/or far it is to run your coax to and from.
