Ok, going camping, gonna be playing tunes for everyone in a 92
jetta... got a clarion deck, 2-300watt amps, 1- 12" JL W3, 1-12"
Pioneer Bullet sub. (tossing in friends amp and his pioneer sub for
more bass)
What battery is gonna have the longest playing time.... a battery from
the local junkyard out of a massive turbo-diesel truck (quite large
batteries in those diesel trucks).... or my dads RV "deep cycle"
battery ?
My dad says his RV battery will last longer, even if it is smaller
then the diesel truck battery. He ensures me that if the RV battery
can operate his stove, TV, lights, refridgerator all day when he is
out of propane, then it can handle the Car stereo for 2 nights at 7
hours a night.
any thoughts?
thanks

An RV/deep cycle battery will last longer than a pure cranking battery.
It should give you enough stereo blasting power for the neighboring
campers to kick your a.s.

I'd suggest the Optima Yellow top. I use one and still have to kill it
after 2-3 days of camping with the music playing most of the daytime at
moderate level. This even include some briefs period of serious sound
cranking for the people who wants a "demo" of the car's system...

You will want to use the heaviest deep cycle battery that you can
carry (or afford) over a starting battery. Fo more information of
battery types and buying tips, please see Section 7 of the Car and
Deep Cycle Battery FAQ on www.batteryfaq.org. A large deep cycle
battery can be used as a starting battery in most cases, but starting
batteries will quickly die if used in deep cycle applications.
