XM Antenna Question

Got an XM Commander in my 4Runner.  I am going to move the antenna
(currently on the edge of the hood) to a more logical place for the
vehicle..the rear part of the roof.  The issue is that we go on
driving trips with this car and have a fiberglass Thule box that
resides on the top of the vehicle.  I would like to get one of those
semi-truck antennas and bolt it to one of the two cross members for my
roof rack so that I can get the stations while the box is on the roof.
Has anyone cut the cable for either one of these antennas and put on
your own connectors?  I was hoping to just unplug the regular magnetic
mount antenna and plug in the larger unit.  The plug would sit right
after the cable comes out of the grommet over the opening for the rear
hatch.

Before I go cutting..anyone know what kind of cable it is?  Will I
wreck the signal in the process (I have searc for extension cables
with out antennas and they don't seem to exist..for a reason?)?

Thanks

I would not cut the antenna cable cause you might loose a certain amount of
dB making it not work.  Just MHO.
