This is my first post, but I have been lurking around the forums reading
as much as I could in order to learn as much as I needed, but did not
quite get an answer I was looking for. But yea I just got my Maxima
SE-L with Bose about 1-2 months ago and I've been planning to work on
the stereo.
Right now, I see my choices as-
1) Get a new HU and a PAC kit(ROEM-NIS2, so the aftermarket HU can work
with the Bose speakers/amps)
or
2) Get a new HU and some how dish some money for new speakers
But my main concern is the HU(I want one that pretty much plays MP3's
and CD's). I know I should try and look for one with 4v preamp outputs,
but those HU's tend to be out of my price range(Dont offer Eclipse
because in my area, well what can I say, people tend to "want" alot of
stuff for a five finger discount) and I would like the 22+watts RMS
coming from the HU because I don't think I'm getting new speakers and
an amp to run them anytime soon.
My price range is pretty much $200-300 and I've been looking into the
Kenwood Excelon KDC-X579 and the Pioneer DEH-P7600MP. and I do, well
from what I've heard that the Pioner Premier name and price, is well,
just for the name, correct me if I am wrong.
If anyone has any other suggestions or has experienced these two HU's,
I would appreciate it if I was enlightened by your
opinions/experiences.
Right now, my path is probably going to be getting the new HU with the
PAC kit.
Then I would want to add some subs with an amp
oo and I ran into this today - the Pioneer DEHP8MP
heres a link-
http://tinyurl.com/6zevj
from what I understand, it's pushing 10 more watts peak from the MOSFET
amp than the previous Pioneer HU I listed, would this be too much for
my speakers? Has anyone heard much of this new HU?
Thanks for the help guys

Can't help you much with your HU selection, but if I were you I would stick
with HU and the PAC kit for now. Then you can save up some money down the
road for subs and eventually replace the Bose speakers. It'll take some
work, because the Bose stuff is fairly well integrated into your car, but
it's worth the effort.
Also check out Maxima.org. I have a 2001 SE Anniversary Edition and you can
get a ton of info there.

I have the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X579 and I love it. I got it from
hookedontronics.com for less then $200 shipped. I used this HU to replace
my older kenwood MP8012 (think that's the model) and I've been VERY happy
with it. I use an outboard amp for my 4 interior speakers (PPI PCX-440),
and it provides EXCELLENT signal (crisp and clean).

I have a JVC kd-ar800 I am willing to sell .. It has 5v preouts ,
mp3/wma etc .. I bought it at hhgregg and I bought the additonal 1 year
after manufacturers' expires ... 2 year warranty thru JVC otherwise .
Will include recipet , box and all original parts .. It is a basic
looking HU , easy to navigate , but has MANY nice features !! Also
doesnt clip the signal until 44 out of 50 on volume if preouts are used
!! Less than 5 months old .. Leave me an eMail address if interested
