I am a pretty new to car audio and I have a question. Right now, I
have 2 Polk MOMO 4x6 (MMC460) 2-Way plates in the front doors, and 2
Boston Acoustics 6x9's (NX97) in the rear trunk area (Custom Fitted).
I am powering all 4 speakers with an MTX 200 Watt amp. I am not happy
with the bass at all. I was wondering, what would the sound quality be
like if I was to replace the 2 rear 6x9 speakers with two 8" subs, and
depend on the 2 front plates for my mids and highs? Would this be a
good setup? My car is very, very small, so space is limited.

I would recommend you use a single 10" for your sub, and keep the other
speakers. You can get a 10" to sound REALLY good in a small 1 cubic foot
box. Replacing the 6x9's with 2 8" might be a good thought, but imho,
may sound a little "boomy" and hollow because of the trunk space is
probably to big for them.

Also consider buying a single 10" sub such as an Infinity 1030w 4 ohm
and bridging the rear channels to power it . Bass output would increas
greatly as far as sub output goes , BUT you would be lacking in midbas
somewhat because of the small 4x6's .. It may work to an extent thoug
- enough where you would be please - with sub crossed over at 110hz LP
and 4x6's crossed over at 80-90hz HPF . I believe your amp would pu
out 200 watts if bridged to a 4 ohm load on the rear channels for
single sub .. Infinity 1030w only needs .65 cu ft. including su
displacement . .55ft^3 + 1" of Poly-fil on each of the sub walls woul
work well also .
