I am looking for a moderatly priced HU for my car and also a set of 4
speakers (probably 6x9s). I have not shopped for car stereos for awhile
but today I was checking out some Kenwood CD / AM / FM units (the
Excelon line).  The Kenwood unit I liked was about $275 (50 watts) and
Sirius ready. I don't remember the model#. The speakers were $140 per
pair. The speakers were 6 x 9 Boston Acoustics. I am not going with a
seperate amp as this is for our 2nd car and I don't want to spend to
much. As you know there is really no way to tell how it will sound in
your car by listening in the store / showroom. I am looking for some
feedback on the Kenwood units so far as sound, features and overall
quality. the Kenwood had a 2 years warranty.
Any suggestions on other equipment in the same price range. Thanks all
and this old geezer says keep rocking.

I have the KDC MP-925 Which is just about as high as you can go without
stepping into the Exelon line and it functions very well. I have it amped
and only 5X7 speakers. I have stood by Kenwood for my cars for a long time
now and have had no issues with them.

I installed the excelion 979 about a month ago. I have loved it so far
clarity is great. I'll be getting an amp for it next week and sub/am
next month.
I chose the Kenwood 'cause I have always liked their service an
products. This unit was the only one I could get an MP3 player and hav
it controlled by the HU.
I have had Kenwood home equipment for 20+ years. I love the company
