im cosidering getting the stuff u mentioned, just one prob. when i got
my tube installed it has an amp in it already. and the back of my
receiver doesnt have rca outputs. so the guy spliced the connection
from my rear left speaker to the sub using which looks like a plug with
like 8 different colored wires that go into it and connect to the tube,
but the tube does have rca. how would i hook up this amp and sub using
what i have? and is it easy to install all this? i think i could do it
but not sure. also how hard is it to put a sub into a box? anything
special?
A Line Output Converter (LOC) would be a good idea. Takes the high-level
inputs direct from the wires going to the rear speakers, usually both
left and right, and turns them into RCA pre-outs. There are some
aplifiers that have High-level inputs also that you might look for, but
many people say these aren't quite as good as a quality LOC, which
allows you to adjust it as you see fit. http://www.installer.com/hilo/
is a good page for that.

The page I linked shows generally how to install them. Typically, you'd
just patch into the rear speakers as they're closer to the trunk and
amp, but depending on the vehicle you may be able to just as easily
patch in up front and run a longer RCA to the back. There's no real
given way to do it.
