I posted before about my friends "dodge dakota" I was confuised, it's
actually a durango (haha yeah, completly different) I didn't see it til
yesterday, and he keeps refering to it as a "truck" as opposed to "gas
guzzling car on steroids". anyway, hes looking to add a sub but not lose too
much of the cargo carrying ability. the onyl sort of "stealth box" I saw was
form MTX (one of their thunderforms I believe) and it's a single 8" woofer,
hes looking to go wiht either 2 10's or a single 12. (personally I'd
recommend the 12 which I think is the way hes leaning) anyway, looking for
ideas on a sub that isnt' too expensive but will require a small box. of
your peopel that have SUV's what sort of setups do you have? he has a sony
amp form his old car (it's a 2 channel, I believe approx 100 watts per
channel) that he wants to use for it, he's obviously going to bridge it,
should he get a single voice coil 4 ohm sub or a DVC sub? any help woudl be
greatly appreciated, thanks!

According to JL Audio, they have a Stealthbox for 1998 - 2001 Durangos with
the third seat....don't know if that helps.
I love my Max. It's an auto, which is fine with me. I do so much fiddling
with the stereo, changing CDs, talking on the phone, ect. that it really
fits my needs. I thought about trading it in, but I've done so much to it
that I can't bare to part with her!

$84 shipped. I had an old 10" RF Punch in my car prior to my pioneer, and
it sounded great. That one should require a whole large enclosure size (the
10" I had was in .5 cubic feet), and should sound really well in a large car
like a durango. That'd be my suggestion. It wouldn't take up much cargo
space at all.

I am now using the Dayton Reference 10"HO version and lovin it. You will
NEED 2 for the Durango. I can try it (I use 1 in my car) in my wife's
Durango tonight but I'm sure you will need more. They are on sale now for
$94 thru Parts Express and it is a very substantial driver! Power hungry
though, 100W/per ain't gonna cut it. The fidelity is incredible, goes VERY
low in a .67CuFt test box. The .67 is more for the 12" but it's a test box
I plan to see how small I can go with by adding wood scrap. Glass is next.
I would do 2X12" HO's in the Durango I suspect you would NOT be disappointed
if properly powered!
Here's a few pics of the driver:

Seeing as how its a 99 Durango, you could suggest doing something like
my roomate did for his. His was a 2001 or 2002 but should be pretty
similar in the back. Here's a link to pictures:

Site could be better (its not mine) but the pics are what's important,
so please don't complain as I have no control over it :)
Essentially, its a false bottom. raised about 2.5 inches, has 2 10"
Diamond CM3 subs under a screen, and 2 amps, 1 for the subs, and a
4-channel for the Kicker RS6 components he had in all 4 doors. The subs
essentially went in the forward cargo cubby, and the rear cubby was left
normal with the exception of a CD-Changer he had put in there. When the
covers were in place on the subs and amps, you really couldn't tell from
outside the car and was even difficult when the tailgate was open. He
still had nearly all cargo space still available.
