Hello All, I was wondering if any of you have run into the problem
described below.
I've installed a KCA-420i Alpine iPod controller interface that
connects to the AiNet connector on the back of an Alpine 9833.
I notice the following:

When the HU is in "Changer" (iPod) mode, I notice a background hiss
that increases as the volume increases.

* I don't notice this hiss when in "CD" mode even when the CD is
paused.
* I notice the hiss even when the car is not running.
* I notice the hiss even when the iPod is paused, off or disconnected.

The KCA-420i connects to the 9833 HU by means of an 8 pin din
connecter. What could be causing the hiss?

Boy, that's a tough one...makes me slamp my feet....

I've had three Alpine decks and have used changers and AUX inputs and have
NEVER had a hiss problem.  Therefore my first thought is that it is coming
from your iPod.  Have you tried disconnecting it and seeing if you still
have the hiss?  If not, there's your problem.  It's possible that your
Alpine has an EQ setting for your iPod with the treble cranked, that would
produce a hiss on only the iPod source.  Try adjusting the EQ while on the
iPod source.

MOSFET, crank the volume on your Alpine head unit to 35 when the HU is
in CD Changer mode with no cd playing.  Then switch to the built in cd
and pause a CD. Do you hear a difference in noise floor?  Which one is
louder?
