Hi all,  I've been looking to upgrade my motors factory fit speakers and
came across these.
http://www.autotoys.com/x/cust/product.php?productid=1875&cat=75&page=1.   I
intended on spending much more on replacements than the cost of these and
I'd never heard of Emerson before so I'm hesitant. But they do seem very
well speced and very well priced, as did many of their products I found c/o
google, but no reviews were to be seen.  Past experience has taught me to
stay clear of cheap speakers but at the price I'm tempted. - Has anybody had
any experience with Emerson?  Good or bad, I'd like to know.

If you checked the link then you probably guessed I own a Ford - a Focus to
be precise.  I all ready have a sub/amp and a decent spec HU installed but
I'm no audiophile, so I'm not too worried about switching to smaller drivers
unless the mid bass loss was going be catastrophic.  Should I forget about
these and go down the 6x8's (or 6x9's) route? Though bear in mind that the
replacement speakers will be powered from the HU(4x55w).  Like I said, I'm
no audiophile.  I'm just looking to improve on stock.  Opinions/suggestions
welcome.

TIA.

Hey Kevin,

If youre wanting to improve from stock, then you don't want Emerson
brand. Your factory car speakers are probably better than those anyway.
Chances are the speaker assembly itself if poorly made. If I were you,
I would invest in a good set of Clarions for double the money. Clarion,
Infinity, Polk, etc. are names you can trust, and you won't be wasting
your money.

I understand that you're not wanting anything top of the line, but if I
were you, I'd stick with my factory application, or spend a little bit
more money on some better quality speakers that will last you much
longer.

Point taken.  Like I said,  I've bought cheap speakers before and quickly
regreted it so I kind of thought they'd sh.t.  On a side note, what are your
opinions on 5" component vs 6X9.
