Splitting 1/8 Headphone Jack Still Stereo?

I am currently installing both an XM radio and an iPod into my car
stereo.

I have one input into the head unit via one set of RCA's and on the
other end is a splitter for two male 1/8 stereo heaphone type adapters.

These two headphone adapters are hooked up to both my XM radio and my
Ipod at the same time.  I am of course going to only play one at a
time, but am I still going to have stereo? Or is this going to cause
any other weird problems?

Any ideas?  I appreciate the help.

This sentance is unclear.  I THINK what you are saying is that attached to
your stereo RCA inputs you have connected a Y connector with a pair of
female 1/8 stereo jacks designed to accept two male 1/8 stereo jacks.  Is
THAT right?

If so, you can connect both sources (iPod and XM radio) without any
problems.  You will not lose stereo by doing this.  It should work fine.
