I have a 2000 honda accord lx sedan and am looking at putting components in
the front doors. I know it has 6 1/2" in the doors, but does anyone know
the max depth that will fit? If you could let me know, I'd greatly
appreciate it!!

You may want to start with Crutchfield's "What fits my car" page. It's a
neat little tool which will tell you what size (and type of) speakers will
fit your car. I'm not sure if it will give you exact depth specifications,
but it's worth a shot. Here's the page:

I have the same car and had the same question. I would recommend using
a slim mount speaker that will fit in the factory housing (it will
require some modification, just clip away the basket where you need to
with some side cutters). Since you are using the factory basket you do
not have to worry about the speaker being too close to the
grille/door-panel. I installed the Infinity 6012.si
(www.hookedontronics.com offers a pretty good price compared to other
places), but any shallow mount speaker should do fine.
