I have a 2001 GP w/Bose system & OnStar. My problem is when I try t
play my cd's that I have burnt, will play the first track, then spit
it, out or I get a error. I thought about gettina a cd changer for th
trunk but I am told with my setup I can only use the fm modulate
one.(CRUTCHFIELD) I dont like these kind, they do not sound good to me
I burn at the slowest speed using Nero, the cd's play in all the othe
vehicles except the GP. Any sugestions??:| Also what is the procedur
for removing the radio? I have a spare one in the garage that I though
I might try, but do not know how to take the radio out.

Probably true. Most of the cdchanger interfaces on factory radios are
proprietary. They want you buying the cdchanger from the dealer and
having them install it for a ridiculous amount of money rather than
competing fairly and letting a local shop do it.

It could be the brand of media you're using. Some brands may work on
your head unit whereas others won't. There's a good chance though that
your factory stereo just doesn't like burned CDs. When CD burners
first came out, this was true for a lot of CD players.

I can't help you on specifics there. Usually, there's a trim panel on
the dashboard that pops out, or may have some hidden screws. Feel
around the radio area especially in areas you can't see from the
driver's seat. There could be no screws though. It could just pop
off. Behind that, there's probably some bolts or machine screws
holding the radio in. You might also want to stop by an auto parts
store and look at the Chiltons manuals. They may show you a diagram
with some instructions on how to get it apart.

On my old Sony, slowly burnt CDs would not play at all, while CDs
burnt at full speed played perfectly. It's a long shot, of course, but
it does not cost a lot to try.

As Brian says, different brands of CD might work.

You are not using CD-RW discs, are you? They are much less likely to
work than CD-R.
