Hi all

I live on a boat, and having a 12v system use a car stereo and
speakers. Everything works fine, so maybe it's time to try something
different...

For various reasons I want to install a second car stereo into the
boat, alongside the first. Obviously it would be too easy to wire them
up to seperate speakers, so i'd like to wire them up so that you can
choose whether speaker set A is wired to stereo A and speakers B to
stereo B, or vice versa, or all speakers taking the output from one
stereo.

Any ideas how i might do this?

many thanks for any advice

Roy

I found this http://www.smarthome.com/82802.html
It's made for home audio but will work for Car also, it is just a speaker
switcher.
It's a bit pricey, but maybe it will help in finding something else

There is a few on the net. I googled "2 input 4 output speaker selector"

If your boat is on saltwater though, you may want to look for something that's
well-sealed and suited for marine use, or you'll likely see the contacts on the
switch corroding over time.  At the very least you'll probably want something
that's moisture-resistant (intended for outdoor use).

Just out of curiosity... why a second separate deck, rather than a new deck with
added functionality, or whatever other features you're after?

Hi

Thanks for the infput - much appreciated. I had googled, but obviously
not used the right names - now I know I'm looking for a two way speaker
selector i've found a few more :-)

the boat is on inland waterways, so salt is not so much of an issue

thanks for your input
