Metra install into a 91 honda accord

So I'm installing a Pioneer deck into my 91 Honda Accord. After some
trial and error, and following installdr.com's recommendations, and
etc... I'm thissss close to getting the whole thing a clean
professional appearance. Except the Metra install kit, just won't
budge. Either I can try to pull it out to clear more room in the back
or I can just force it in (along with the risk of breaking those little
plastic tabs).

Now I know that with these Metra kits, you're not supposed to put the
Receiver in the kit until the Kit is already inserted in the dash with
the DIN sleeve/cage inside with the tabs bent. But I installed this ISO
style to the kit, so it's already in one unit, just not in the dash
yet.

What should I do now?

some extra info which may or not be necessary:
The stereo (Pioneer DEH 4800), is already in the kit (Metra 7898).
Installed ISO style, with the brackets.

Some of those kits are made for multiple makes of Honda. Did you break off
the tabs that are not needed for your vehicle?
There should only be 4 to 6 tabs you need. Not breaking off those extra tabs
may not let the kit fit in right.

I've broken off all of the tabs except for tabs C and H just like it
says to do in the installation manual. But this doesn't matter because
the kit is hanging out a few inches (it won't even budge in both
directions, this is my real problem).

I'd like to clear up some space that the wire harness takes up and
maybe even change the screws I used to ISO mount the stereo (they
protrude about one centimeter). Or even switch it back into the DIN
sleeve and mount it that way.

Surely, I can't be the only person on this forum to have ISO mounted a
stereo before. does anyone have some experience with this?

I have a 93 civic so it should be pretty similar. To give my deck a
clean look after being installed I had to do a lot of trial and error.
To get the best fit I took off the bottom part of the dash and played
around with the harness. In the 92-95 civic at the back of the DIN
opening there's quite the gap that is quite sufficient for holding the
car's harness and the wiring and deck's harness you really just have to
pull everything back and sometimes smush it in there.
hope this helped.
