have a 400 watt VR3 amp on the Coustic Bp1044 subs, i've had them
installed for about a year now and yesterday in the car the amp just
switched to protection and now i have no sound from my subs,
everything else works

I hadn't turned up the volume yet, the amp wasn't hot. Now as soon as
you turn the ignition switch on the amp's turns on but it's still in
protection Mode.

What is the Problem?

It might very well be internal. Have you tried disconnecting all
speaker wires from the amp and powering-up? If the "protection mode"
light is still on, then I'd say that's a pretty good indication that
your amp needs some professional lovin' (or to be drop-kicked into the
trash can).

By the way, please don't post the same question to two different
threads. Aside from being poor netiquette, it won't help--this
newsgroup doesn't get enough traffic for your post to get lost in the
shuffle. If someone is able to help you, you'll get an answer soon
enough.
