He saw it in an old movie - before Prii (plural of Prius) were even made. He was able to extrapolate based on the volvo-ness of the Prii.
John S. - 06 Apr 2005 17:07 GMT Really...now that is interesting.
Whose survey did you get this bit of information from. Or is it just wishful thinking.....

Hummer owners are not republican. They are troop-hating traitors.

They are troop-hating traitors. So the troops, who love Hummers, are troop haters? I'd always suspected this, myself.

You can tell a rude chap by the way he sets his cap - 08 Apr 2005 02:47 GMT Politics don't enter into it. I drive what I can pay for out of pocket, or can save for in a few months-I don't like being in debt to anyone. That being said, I'd not be caught dead in a Volvo, Saab or Volkswagen, even if I could afford it. Ditto for the Bimmer Poser "Cooper". Or Subarus. Or any SUV(I don't like vehicles that fall over on curves). No Krautslers, either. I prefer American vehicles.

I'd just as soon take my chances. A person of my particular disposition does not want to be seen in the automotive equivalent of Birkenstocks. It would do irreparable damage to my rep as a hepcat.

Actual performance drivers know that there are some genuinely *quick* models of those cars. Volvo, Saab and VW have all won sedan class racing championships in recent years.
Or would you rather drive a BMW, and have everyone automatically assume that you are an ***hole for owning one?

A Bimmer? Hell NO. Yuppie arsehole-mobile. The only one I'd consider is the Bimmer 2k, which is cool. I'm not an actual performance driver, tho, I'm a poser, and have to be conscious of my projected image.

I'll take my chances on looking unhip. The better reason for driving a Volvo is so that when jerks make like they're going to clobber you if you don't give up your right of way, you can let them. Even guys in six wheel pickup trucks will usually think twice.

Congradulations on being the only bicycle rider in the US to stop at stop signs and obey red lights. Perhaps I would like to visit your area sometime and see this in person.

Many "American" cars aren't even built in the US, OTOH alot of "import" cars are.
Likewise, not everybody that drives a hybrid is a liberal. Probably many are, but some aren't.
